Cascade Village
Bend, OR
The dramatic 85,000 square foot remodel of the aging Mountain View Mall began with the demolition of a large portion of the mall. The 1960s mall was refigured with shops surrounding the main existing building and three additional buildings around the site, creating a village-type setting. Home to several major tenants, the existing masonry structure was completely renovated as required for the additions using masonry and metal stud framed plywood shearwalls. The facades were updated using a Northwest style design featuring glulam beams, heavy exposed timber and multiple canopy types. Tower structures were added on rooftops.
