Cinemas

VLMK has completed more than 100 cinema projects, some of which are detailed here.

Riverstone Cinema – Coeur d'Alene, ID

This 59,375 square foot, 14 screen movie theater complex was constructed of load bearing masonry with steel framing and a steel framed projection mezzanine.  The large hip roof structure is four sided with large steel trusses over the entry.  The resultant design reflects excellent craftsmanship and detailing with strong visual appeal.  Load bearing masonry walls are used at the exterior.  An interior steel structure supports the roof and projection mezzanine.  The exterior cladding consists of metal panels and curtain wall glazing.  Providing structural engineering services on an estimated 50 to 60 Act III/Regal Cinemas in the Pacific Northwest and throughout the United States made VLMK a valuable member of the project team.

Old Mill Cinema – Bend, OR

This beautiful new cinema is located in the heart of the historic Old Mill District of Bend, Oregon.  Completed in 2000, the cinema provides moviegoers with ten auditoriums and an adjacent retail space.  In 2005, VLMK provided engineering services for the expansion of the theater to 16 screens, for a total of 49,721 square feet.  Load bearing masonry walls are used at the exterior.  An interior steel structure supports the roof and a projection mezzanine.  The exterior cladding consists of metal panels and curtain wall glazing.  VLMK was an integral and valuable member of the project team.

Cinetopia Vancouver – Vancouver, WA

This innovative theater complex sets a new experience standard for movie goers.  Eight auditoriums feature luxury seating.  Three more "living room" auditoriums welcome movie goers with plush chairs, food trays, food service and performance stage areas.  The complex also includes a restaurant. Built with fast-track construction, the building is white masonry CMU with a steel framed interior and mezzanine.  Load bearing masonry walls are used at the exterior.  An interior steel structure supports the roof and a projection mezzanine.  The exterior cladding consists of metal panels and curtain wall glazing.

Union Gap Cinema – Union Gap, WA

This ten screen cinema consists of 52,000 square feet, complete with concessions.  The building was constructed of masonry CMU, while the roof structure and projection mezzanine were wood framed for the greatest cost savings.  The exterior cladding consists of metal panels and curtain wall glazing.
