American Steel

Canby, OR

American Steel consulted with VLMK to assist them in their relocation to the city of Canby's Pioneer Industrial Park.  These consulting efforts included site feasibility studies and complete planning and design services to consolidate their operations from multiple buildings into a single 190,490 square foot rail-served facility.  Substantial infrastructure improvements to serve the expanding industrial park were facilitated by Urban Renewal funding and required detailed coordination efforts with the city of Canby and their engineering consultant, Clackamas County and multiple service providers.  The design build project required a fast-track schedule with the contractor brought in during design to assist in coordinating the extensive MEP systems serving the sheet & plate mill lines, burn tables, shears and associated tools.  The facility includes multiple craneways with capacities varying from 15- to 30-tons. The facility features controlled environment storage for exotic metals, a substantial slab section to accommodate 3-tier stacks of 30-ton steel coils, intricate foundations with built-in trenches for the milling tools, a truck wash facility with re-circulating treatment system, internal isolated rail spur, and a subsurface exhaust system for the down draft burn tables.  VLMK designed a water quality infiltration facility to allow all stormwater to be treated and retained onsite.
