Milgard Manufacturing, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of vinyl windows for the residential and commercial market. The facility features 100,000 square feet of manufacturing, 14,000 square feet of manufacturing mezzanine and 28,000 square feet of office space on two levels. VLMK acted as the prime consultant by coordinating building design, sub-consultant design and permitting, in addition to providing civil and structural engineering.

PACIFIC METAL MANUFACTURING
TUALATIN, OR

A "build-to-suit" project for IDM, LLC, VLMK coordinated directly with Pacific Metal and the contractor during all phases of design and construction. At this new facility, Pacific Metal fabricates and distributes sheet metal and extruded metal products. The facility includes 12,000 SF of office and 50,000 SF of manufacturing space

ALBINA PIPE BENDING
TUALATIN, OR

Albina Pipe Bending provides custom bending of steel tubing and large structural shapes. The main building is a 37,500 square feet pre engineered metal building. The office is a 3,600 square feet one-story wood framed structure. The building is configured in three bays, and planned for two future expansions. Features include a clear height of 25 feet to crane hook, and large 24 foot x 24 foot grade doors. In addition, VLMK assisted Albina Pipe in the design of their new shape bending tables. These unique structures consist of concrete and structural steel systems capable of bending large structural steel shapes.

AMERICAN STEEL
CANBY, OR

When the City of Canby was looking to improve their local economy, they looked to American Steel's new 190,490 square foot rail-served plant. VLMK closely coordinated the construction details to coincide with frontage improvements being made with urban renewal funding. The design build project required a fast-track schedule with the contractor brought in during design. The design featured tilt-up concrete construction with a wood roof deck.

CARLTON COMPANIES ADDITION
MILWAUKIE, OR

This manufacturing addition to the Carlton Companies facility allows for a nearly threefold increase in production and storage use. The project site provided unusual design challenges including mitigating impacts to residential uses on the north side and commercial uses on the east. Significant earthwork was required to allow for the new addition to interact with the existing facility. The facility features 52,000 square feet of manufacturing area, 52,000 square feet of distribution and storage and 20,000 square feet of support facilities for employees.

NIKE AIRSOLE RENOVATION
BEAVERTON, OR

International leader and icon Nike selected VLMK for the Nike Airsole manufacturing building. Nike manufactures several key components for their shoe and apparel lines at this facility. The project included a structural re-design and upgrade for conformance with current seismic code requirements. Structural supports were also designed to accommodate relocation of several large pieces of equipment.

SUN MICROSYSTEMS
HILLSBORO, OR

This custom built-to-suite facility initiated the development of the 25 acre Suntech Corporate Park. This phase of the project included entitling the property and constructing a 90,000 square foot manufacturing and corporate office building in less than 8.5 months. Building construction consists of a combination of concrete tilt-up and glass curtain wall system at the office appendage supported on a conventional foundation. To accommodate the intensive mechanical system serving the 28 foot clear manufacturing building, a large portion of the roof structure was designed with a composite concrete and metal deck.

TRUCKSTELL
PORTLAND, OR

VLMK served as the Prime Consultant for this 69,055 square foot specialty vehicle assembly company. The facility features 16,300 square feet of group installation shop with mezzanine and cranes, a 6,200 square foot accessory installation shop, a 15,500 square feet of office and display area, and 39,960 square feet of parts warehouse mezzanine.

DeMarini Sports
Hillsboro, Oregon

VLMK Consulting Engineers provided site planning, building design, civil and structural engineering services for the DeMarini Sports, Inc. corporate office and manufacturing facility. Exterior architectural design and interior architectural finishes were designed by Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects.

The building shell is 49,200 square feet with 20,000 square feet of office build-out on two floors and 29,200 square feet of manufacturing area. The building and site were designed for a 30,000 square foot future addition to the manufacturing facility. The building has concrete tilt walls with extensive use of storefront, curtain wall and reveals, and a wood and steel Berkley roof system.

nLIGHT
Vancouver, Washington

VLMK provided prime consulting services for the entire nLight complex, which included master planning, civil, architectural and structural. In addition, VLMK acted as a sub consultant to Ralston Architects during the tenant improvement process that included design of the second floor office, catwalks and mechanical platforms.

nLIGHT is a manufacturing facility for a producer of laser diodes. The facility includes 10,000 square feet of clean rooms and 19,000 square feet of office space in two stories. Project schedule was fast track with major design occurring during construction. The building has a clear height of 30 feet.

Pinnacle Exhibits
Oregon

The Pinnacle Exhibits project is a 70,200 sq. ft. Manufacturing facility located in Hillsboro, Oregon. The project was designed and constructed in two phases.

The building is comprised of 5,775 sq. ft. of office, 14,250 sq. ft. of production, and 47,175 sq. ft. of temporary set-up area and long-term storage for exhibit display structures.

Willamette Industries
Hillsboro, Oregon

VLMK Consulting Engineers provided the master planning, structural, and civil engineering services for the Willamette Industries new pre-print facility.

The facility was designed to accommodate a state of the art printing press manufactured to Willamette Industries specifications in Germany. The facility includes administrative offices designed with concrete tilt panels with an expanse of storefront glazing which provides complimentary relief for the 32 ft. clear height manufacturing and paper storage warehouse. Intensive coordination efforts between the owner and their consultants, as well as the design team and contractor, were key to VLMKs successful completion of this high-tech facility.
