Structural Engineering

Our business began as a structural engineering firm, providing a broad range of consulting services.  Today, though our services have expanded, structural engineering is still a core part of what VLMK does.  Much of this work is consulting to architects, but we also serve as the Prime Consultant on numerous projects.

Our expertise in the field covers all the major construction types, including concrete, steel, wood, masonry and light gauge metal.  In addition to the typical structural systems, VLMK has also provided engineering services for a number of more specialized structures including: multi-story, concrete, tilt-up office buildings; multi-story, light-framed wood structures; post-tensioned concrete facilities; and extruded plenum systems for the high-tech industry.  We also provide inspections, seismic evaluations and upgrades as part of our structural engineering services.

Utilizing current technology and state-of-the-art techniques and software (including three-dimensional analysis and modeling, such as BIM), our analysis capabilities and design experience gives us the necessary tools for designing a variety of structures. As with all our services, VLMK places a strong emphasis on providing our clients with practical designs that not only meet the project requirements but do so in an economical and construction-friendly manner.
