Civil Engineering

VLMK provides a range of civil engineering services that meet the needs of the building construction industry, namely to fit and serve fixed projects within their given sites.  In addition to providing civil engineering for projects managed in-house, we have considerable experience working as a civil engineering consultant on projects managed by others.

We are intimately involved from conception through final design and construction.  Our services include evaluation, site planning, utility design, site grading, erosion control, drainage design, stormwater management and public street improvements.  Our experience ranges from the site layout and design of large industrial parks to some of the most innovative and efficient commercial and retail developments in the Portland Metro area.

Our considerable expertise designing state-of-the-art stormwater management systems includes vegetated infiltration systems utilizing ponds and bio-swales to maximize site sustainability and reduce impact to existing public systems.  Additionally, we have participated in several LEED-certified projects, providing the necessary design and participation to make these projects a success.

Utilizing the latest technology and software, the civil engineering department can provide BIM services for site development and associated public improvements.  Not only does this technology aid in the creation of more efficient site designs, it enables us to respond faster to design changes made in the course of a project.
